Do you think politics is a waste of time?

I’ve always found myself rather interested in politics, and I remember that as a child my father always encouraged me and my brothers to get involved (not necessarily to be members of a certain party, but to be as he said “active citizens”). Lots of young people though, consider that a waste of time. What do you think?
